Guys, there are about 16,777,216 Vincent Valentine cosplayers in the universe.
I'm going to start imposing the same strictness on cosplay as I do on art in this group. If you're cosplaying Vincent and you want it in this gallery, you'd better look exactly like him with a professional photographer and studio lighting or have done something incredibly creative and/or witty with the costume. Please. I'm sick to death of looking at cosplay. I understand you're excited about the work you've put into your costume but even closeups on your amazing Cerberus or claw replicas (or boots! please, someone show me some really well done Vincent Valentine sabatons) are more interesting to look at than your drug store wig and backlit, out of focus, self-conscious, out of character smile.
"But Ravynne, you bitch!" you say, "How can you poop on someone's art like that? It doesn't matter how much the cosplayer looks like Vincent, or how good the photo is; cosplay itself is an art!"
And to you, I say: Yes, cosplay is an art. Photography is an art also, as is modeling. And the supply vs. demand principle of Vincent Valentine cosplay has just reached the critical point of me henceforth requiring all three to be present in Vincent cosplay submissions if your Vincent Valentine cosplay otherwise looks like every other Vincent Valentine cosplay. Reason being the same principle that I have always employed in determining whether or not fan art meets the acceptance criteria: no one joins this group to be notified of every single Vincent Valentine fan art/cosplay ever created, regardless of quality, because you can just google "vincent valentine fan art" or "vincent valentine cosplay" for that and spare your deviantART message center the bombardment of mediocrity.
Can't someone cosplay Reeve or something?? Shalua? Shelke? Now those are Dirge of Cerberus cosplays we haven't been inundated with yet...

*Note: This is not about anyone in particular. There are literally 10 different Vincent cosplay submissions in my inbox right now.
Sorry about the inevitable hurt feelings.

Friendly reminders about submissions, etc.
• I am still alive. :meow:
• If your submission expires, sorry. If I could set submissions to never expire, I would, but DA doesn't allow that as an option. I'm not on DA every day and I only get around to leafing through submissions every now and then. But if I see that something was submitted that I think would be a good addition to our group gallery, I will go back and request to add it later, so I hope you won't be offended by the request expiring the first time. My repeated attempts to recruit helpers have generally failed (or at least failed to stick, but I'm a mainstay in the fandom it seems).

Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode playthrough!
Guys! Did you know this exists? How late am I on this boat??

That link hops directly to the Vincent and Lucrecia dancing scene (*cough*), but you can start over from the beginning of the video from there. I haven't yet, but I hope to watch the whole thing soon!
Looking for new mods.
So, I'm a senior in college and I don't have time to solo-moderate this group anymore. Would anyone like to co-moderate with me? I can help every now and then but need someone who has the time to check submissions more often than the "once every month or so" that I get around to.
Must have at least some sense of discerning artistic taste and be willing to click "no" on pieces that aren't up to snuff. Inquire within.
Discussion Topic!: Did DoC do Vincent justice?
This is a topic that Vincent fans often feel quite strongly about, usually on the negative side of the argument. In fact it seems that most FF7 fans feel that DoC did not do justice to anything it built upon at all. (Purists, perhaps.)
The other day someone emphatically told me that they felt DoC did Vincent lots of justice and this unpopular stance on the topic intrigued me so I thought it might be fun to start a discussion about it.
Do you feel that DoC did Vincent justice? Why or why not?
Please let us know what you think—and comment upon other people's responses, too! =)

It's true that Vincent is one of the most popular FF7 cosplays out there. I'd be excited to see people take on more Deepground characters someday. Imagine seeing an in-the-flesh Azul cosplayer lugging around that giant rocket launcher! Or instead of seeing it, BEING that cosplayer! ^_^
