Something Survived

Welcome to the Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus Club.

This is a club for all those who love the game Dirge of Cerberus from the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. If this includes you, don't hesitate to Join our Group!

Please read the Rules before joining OR submitting artwork. :)

:blackrose:Submitting Artwork:blackrose:

Please submit artwork to the correct categories (ie: Cosplay photos in the Cosplay folder, lit in the Fanfiction folder, and everything else in Featured). You may submit as many works at a time as you'd like; however, not everything is guaranteed to be accepted. (This is especially true if you submit several pieces that are very similar, such as a series of cosplay photos, but feel free to submit away!)

Explanations for submission rejection will generally not be given unsolicited. If you would like to know why your submission was rejected, please comment on the submission itself (NOT the group's main page, unless you enjoy potential public embarrassment) and ask me. I will be glad to let you know what specific aspects of the artwork I felt were not up to par. If you would like suggestions for improvement I'll be glad to give that, too!

Please do NOT resubmit something if it has been rejected. My decisions are made with much thought and are not going to spontaneously change just because you clicked that button again. If you feel that my decision should have been different, you'll have to discuss it with me.

If a submission has expired, please DO submit it again! I am a busy art student/shoe salesperson and I sometimes forget to check the group requests for a few days. =)

• I am still alive. :meow:

• If your submission expires, sorry. If I could set submissions to never expire, I would, but DA doesn't allow that as an option.  I'm not on DA every day and I only get around to leafing through submissions every now and then.  But if I see that something was submitted that I think would be a good addition to our group gallery, I will go back and request to add it later, so I hope you won't be offended by the request expiring the first time.  My repeated attempts to recruit helpers have generally failed (or at least failed to stick, but I'm a mainstay in the fandom it seems).

• We don't accept everything.  There's too much DoC fan art out there to accept everything.  I accept pieces that I feel are worth passing along to a few hundred strangers to look at.  So if your work is rejected, it probably wasn't a mistake (unless, y'know, I message you shortly afterward going "Ack, I accidentally rejected your art! Here's another add request, sorry!")  You can feel free to ask me for improvement tips if you'd like.  I don't hand these out unsolicited anymore because there are a lot of easily offended people in the world who are ready to /wrists at the slightest bit of constructive criticism.

Things we commonly don't accept include:
• Unfinished sketches.
• Messy scans/cellphone photos of traditional artwork.  (Presentation matters!)
• Cosplay photos that don't either a) look eerily like the character being cosplayed, b) show a high level of craftsmanship, and/or c) show an admirable level of artistic photography.  I might accept a cosplay photo hitting two out of three of these criteria, but if it only hits one or fewer, it's probably going to be rejected.
• Every single photo in your cosplay series, unless they're all really damn good.  (If it's an entire series, I'll usually choose the two or three best, although I suppose there's no harm in submitting the entire series and letting me decide which ones we'll add.)
• Verbatim copies of screen caps or official artwork, no matter how skillfully they are rendered.
• Artwork obscured by giant, garish watermarks on them, unless I really want it in the gallery anyway.  (Again, presentation matters!)

• There's a direct correlation between the popularity of the character(s) featured in the artwork and my standards of artistic quality.  Portraying Vincent?  It had better be some really darn good art.  Portraying Argento?  Shit yeah, give it here.  (Has anyone even seen Argento fan art?  I haven't.)

• If you prefer to see a collection of Dirge of Cerberus fan art absent of any quality standards whatsoever, locate the DA search bar and type in "dirge of cerberus."  Voila.  Our gallery is curated.  The search results are not.

• Incidentally, I also run a Lucrecia fan club that accepts any and all artwork of Lucrecia Crescent.

I wanted to ask if the Vincent in this submission is appropriate for this club?
He's more of a mix of Advent Children/Dirge of Cerberus, though this crossover story will make references to the events of Dirge of Cerberus and takes place afterwards.

Hi. Sorry it's taken me so incredibly long to respond. Very busy with life stuff.

Yeah it's probably fine. To be honest I don't make much distinction between AC!Vince and DoC!Vince. They're both post-FF7!Vince. But for that matter most FF7!Vince is still relevant to DoC, especially if his portrayal is ambiguous as to which year is being portrayed...

Unfortunately I don't have the time to read fan fiction these days, even in comic format, as I barely have enough time to remember I have some DA groups to moderate. But since the artwork is lovely, anything you submit to me from any subsequent installations of that story will be judged on its merits as a stand-alone piece of artwork and most likely accepted.

Hopefully at some point I'll have the time to catch myself up on any sort of story you might be telling there. (And, for that matter, on my own.)
